Biography

Jakub Smołka works as a senior lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the Lublin University of Technology in Lublin, Poland. He obtained his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Lublin University of Technology and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Silesian University of Technology. He contributed to the establishment of the Lublin University of Technology Motion Capture Lab.

Jakub Smołka’s research interests lie in motion capture, 3D motion analysis, programming, machine learning, data classification, and computer vision. He teaches courses on programming languages, Android mobile programming, and software development processeses.

Jakub Smołka has authored and co-authored many scientific publications, books, and monographs. He participates in securing grants e.g. “Expansion of the motion capture laboratory of the Department of Computer Science” (co-financing from the Ministry of Education and Science). He is also active in realization of scientific grants such as “Preserve from posterity” – 3D technology in protecting the traditions of national and regional dances (Social responsibility of science II – Popularization of science, co-financing from the Ministry of Education and Science).

He is a member of Association for Image Processing.
